Manchester Flower Show Jubilee Trail#5 Crown Jewels
The Manchester Flower Show was an annual fixture in Platt Fields Park dating back to the 1950s and ran until 2003. Following a 15-year hiatus, it was resurrected and moved to the city centre as part of the King Street Festival in 2018, and as a standalone event in 2021 as the city emerged from the coronavirus lockdown. The 2022 show coincided with the 4-day national celebrations to mark HM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; 10 professionally designed displays were created as a “Jubilee Trail” in the retail district of Manchester city centre to mark the monarch’s 70 years on the throne.
The “Crown Jewels” at Royal Exchange Arcade was another “selfie spot” with visitors being to put on the provided crown and take a photo of themselves on a “throne” surrounded by a profusion of fresh and dried flowers (delphiniums, roses, peonies, hydrangeas, alliums, and agapanthus) with an opportunity to win a £100 voucher by posting their snap on Instagram.
