Manchester Reform Synagogue
The Manchester Reform Synagogue was founded in 1857 and met at Park Place off Cheetham Hill Road. The building was blitzed in 1941. In 1949 compensation from the War Damage Commission enabled the purchase of a site in Jackson's Row. The building was designed by Eric Levy and Peter Cummings. On 18th May 1952 the site was consecrated and was opened on 29th November 1953. Additional classrooms were built in 1956 and 1969. http://www.jacksonsrow.org/our-history/ Plans by Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs for a 39-storey tower building in Jackson Row will involve the demolition of the synagogue and the inclusion of a new worship space within the development. https://www.dezeen.com/2017/08/23/gary-neville-ryan-giggs-reveal-revised-st-michaels-stephen-hodder-partners-tower-plans-manchester-uk-architecture/
