Simister, Same Yet Inn
The Same Yet Inn, on the eastern side of Simister village, was built in 1728 (see Image]) to serve the farmers and labourers who worked and lived locally.
According to their web site https://www.thesameyetinn.com/our_story , legend has it that it was originally called The Star Inn until it was refurbished. When the signwriters asked what the name of it was, the answer was, “the same yet’, meaning it was still The Star Inn, but, to everyone's surprise, the signwriters took this literally and a new sign reading “The Same Yet” in bright, gold lettering, appeared over the door. It was decided it should stay as it would be too expensive to alter and so it remains “The Same Yet” to this day. This may be apocryphal, but it seems as good an explanation as any for what is a somewhat unusual pub name.

Looking in an north-easterly direction along Simister Lane. The public house is known as the Same Yet and has a date stone in the wall bearing the year 1728. (see Image ).
