The Big Hall, Long Street Methodist Church and School
The focal point of each room inside the school is an open roof structure which supports the heavy stone flags above. By far the largest space is the School Hall where Edgar Wood installed six spectacular trusses that sit on long curved braces to gain the required width.

The Ladies Parlour (Teachers' Room), Long Street Methodist School
The focal point of each room inside the school is an open roof structure which supports the heavy stone flags above. In this room, the right hand beams are 'fake'; they are not holding up the roof but are merely there to make the roof look symmetrical. The real roof beams are visible in the corridor outside. The woodwork around the fireplace reflects the style of the architrave around the doors. The art nouveau script lettering (Image]) above the fireplace are the initials of people who donated money towards the building of the church.

Long Street Methodist School
Compared with the church, the school façade faces the gloomier north and east and so Edgar Wood built in a lighter, brighter lime-washed render which contrasts with the brick church.
