Middleton Gardens
A series of shallow steps lead up to the gardens and the Moonraker fountain. The Moonraker fountain, designed by Terry Eaton, was installed in Middleton town centre in 2001. It is supposed to symbolise a local legend according to which a group of local poachers saw the moon’s reflection in a pond after a couple of drinks, thought it was a piece of cheese and tried to drag it out with a rake.
