Wythenshawe Park
The park was originally the land belonging to the Tatton family who were established at Wythenshawe Hall. Wythenshawe Park
Ernest and Sheena Simon, later Lord and Lady Simon bought Wythenshawe Hall and its Park. They presented it as a gift to the City, to be kept as an open space for the people of Wythenshawe. Ancient Beech in Wythenshaw Park
This Beech tree, in the rear gardens of Wythenshawe Hall is one of several veteran trees in the park. The diameter of the trunk must have been two metres at least, and the tree must be several hundred years old.
