Wythenshawe Town Centre: Metrolink station
Looking south along the tramline towards the Airport. At present, there is a 12-minute off peak service between the Airport and Cornbrook. Only when the second city crossing has been completed, will trams run through into the heart of Manchester. This will be in 2016 if plans go well.

Little Bees at the Forum, Wythenshawe
The Forum centre opened in 1971. It houses a library, leisure centre, swimming pool, cafe and other amenities and has recently been renovated in a more modern style. For thirty years it also housed the Forum Theatre, but this closed in 2002; a health clinic and an adult education facility now occupy its space. The building has been remodelled to focus on four integrated service elements; leisure, adult learning, childcare and health on one site - provided by a variety of public and private sector partners. The inside now features a light, airy, central concourse which, as well as providing access to the various zones within the Forum, also features a one-stop reception area, a café, pharmacy and a newsagent. The entrances and concourse regularly incorporate public artworks designed by artists working with local people; ten of the “Bee in the City” mini-bees painted by local schoolchildren were on display when this photograph was taken.

New Police station at Wythenshawe Forum (to the left of shot). This architectural blueprint seems to be copied at other stations recently built in the Greater Manchester area (notably Swinton). The Blue Lamp on the top echoes a bygone era.

Wythenshawe Interchange
Wythenshawe’s new £6m transport interchange, which was built by Kier on behalf of TfGM, opened in July 2015 (https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/wythenshawes-new-6m-transport-interchange-9740813 Manchester Evening News) linking the bus and tram services to the town, providing a modern, high quality gateway to the town centre. The interchange was opened approximately 9 months after completion of the Metrolink Airport Extension and the Wythenshawe Town Centre tram stop in November 2014.
