A Walk in Didsbury Village (39) Elegant Brick built Row of Shops
East Side
This row of brick built two storey terraced houses and shops is architecturally pleasing. The first floor windows have an arrangement of three arched windows, one being central and larger than the other two. The second floor windows also feature a shallower brick arch. These buildings are clearly the work of a master bricklayer. The earlier building housing the Halifax Building Society, tec, with impressive pediments, has something of the same style. Most of the premises are occupied by restaurants.

East side Two of the clutch of restaurants mentioned earlier. Zeugma and Bella Vita. Planted troughs give the impression of a natural growth, but closer inspection reveals artifice.

Didsbury Shops
When the Streetview google-car passed here in 2012 both these shops on Wilmslow Road were empty. The premises to the left of the K6 phone kiosk is now occupied by Julian Wadden & Co, estate agents and letting agents. The premises behind the tree are now home to health food shop Holland & Barrett.

A Walk in Didsbury Village (44) Didsbury in Bloom Planted Containers
West side The Famous Crown a Public House sponsors these containers. A postbox stands as it has since the reign of King George. The "Royal Mail" postal service seems to be changing for the worse with increased charges and truncated deliveries, etc. Filling stations are so familiar that they almost pass notice. They lie at the root of climate change and our reliance on fossil fuels.
