The Towers, Didsbury
The former home of the Victorian engineer Daniel Adamson, now part of a business park. On 27th June 1882 a meeting was held here to start the campaign that led to the construction of the Manchester Ship Canal. (See also Image ). For an account of the life of Adamson's sister, Elizabeth, and an account of Adamson's reception by the people of Didsbury following the passing of the Ship Canal Act see http://www.g4fas.net/fmmm.htm (courtesy of Geoff Royle, http://www.geograph.org.uk/profile/27109 )

Didsbury Cricket Club
Looking across Didsbury CC's Wilmslow Road ground towards Parrs Wood Road and Kingsway. The first XI play in the ECB Cheshire Premier League. The club also run four other teams in the Cheshire County Cricket League and a women's team in the Cheshire Women's Cricket League. The ground is looking a little worn probably due to winter lacrosse use.

East Didsbury Station
Looking south along the platform at East Didsbury Railway Station. 323237, an ex-British Rail class 323 passenger train has just left the station, en-route for Manchester Airport and Crewe. The British Rail Class 323 electric multiple units (EMUs) were built by Hunslet TPL from 1992-93. Forty-three of these 3-car units were built for inner-suburban services around Birmingham and Manchester. These trains were the last vehicles to be built by the struggling manufacturer Hunslet before it collapsed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_323 ). These trains were also amongst the last to be constructed in the UK before rail privatisation.
