Former White Lion
The former White Lion dates back to 1881 and is Grade II listed https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1255026 According to Pubs of Manchester http://pubs-of-manchester.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/white-lion-wilmslow-road.html in the 1980s it underwent a misguided re-branding as the Pavilion, and then the Withington Ale House, which despite its name, didn't offer much in the way of decent beer. It reverted back to the White Lion after a cheap refurb but sadly attracted the more undesirable type of punter. In 2007 it closed for good. It has since been acquired by the Brookhouse group http://brookhousegroup.co.uk/portfolio/white-lion/ who have "brought the derelict listed pub building back to life, providing local residents with a new Sainsbury’s convenience food store and six new luxury apartments full of quirky period features."
