Christ Church Lady Chapel
Formal approval was granted on 15 August 1944 to the Rector Walter Henry Bishop and Church Wardens to convert the North Transept into a Lady Chapel. Eight pews were removed and it was furnished with a Holy Table, Credence Table, kneelers, ornaments, books, chairs and carpets. They also installed a stained glass window Image on the north side of the church with the inscription "To the glory of God and in loving memory of Dorothy Silverwood Holt and Esther Holt 1943". The Holts were wealthy members of Christ Church and friends of Grace Milne (of Kendal Milne) who all had great influence on the church and parish affairs. They were great benefactors in those days when the Church depended on such people for the upkeep of the church, long before planned giving schemes came into being.
