Northolme Gardens, Manchester
A short, quiet cul-de-sac of well-maintained houses and gardens that runs north from Overlea Drive. On the opposite side of Overlea Drive, running southwards behind the photographer's left shoulder, is an equally quiet, short and well-maintained cul-de-sac, Southolme Gardens.

1940s housing in Burnage
My parents lived in the top flat here in the early 1940s. My mother was evacuated to Blackpool to give birth in 1942, but I lived here for the first few years of my life. These flats are typical of much of the council housing built in the 1940s in Burnage, and much of Manchester. The windows and doors have been renewed, but the brickwork is just about as I remember it.

Errwood Road, Burnage
Looking northeast along Errwood Road in Burnage, to the south of Manchester. A pretty village in the latter part of the 19th Century, the old Burnage was consumed by the development of housing estates in the early 20th Century. SJ86739216.
