Manchester Cityscape
Looking Eastwards, from the Beetham Tower (Hilton Hotel Image]), towards Manchester city centre. The road is Great Bridgewater Street, passing between the "Jurys Inn" hotel and the back of the Bridgewater Hall. The large tower block under construction is called "Student Castle" http://www.studentcastle.co.uk/word.php?pid=7&year=2010. When completed, the 33-storey tower on Great Marlborough Street will be among the city’s tallest buildings, measuring 109 metres. To the left of that is the tower of the former Refuge Assurance building, now the Palace Hotel on Oxford Street (Image]). The Pennine hills can be made out in the distance.

Great Bridgewater Street
Looking down Great Bridgewater Street. Beyond the viaduct carrying the metrolink trams from St Peter's Square to Deansgate/Castlefield is the Beetham Tower (Hilton Hotel). On the right in front of Manchester Central is the Tower of Light. Called the "Tower of Light", the tall, white structure is the chimney for a new energy project - the Civic Quarter Heat Network - which will power a number of prominent buildings including Central Library, the Bridgewater Hall, Heron House and the Manchester Art Gallery, by sending electricity and heat - via hot water - through two kilometres of underground pipes.

Is this a taxi?
Well, yes it is. But only during the day. At night it becomes a courtesy car for a restaurant. I caught him doing a U turn in Great Bridgewater Street

The Rochdale Canal
The buildings are at Albion Street. The broken pillars appear to be relics from an earlier building - or they could be modern ornaments.
