46 Sackville Street, Manchester
Former warehouse dating from c1860. Its profusion of arched windows give it a very Italian look. It's all brick except for a stone oriel above the entrance. Grade II listed. The ground floor is occupied by Nossa Casa, a Brazilian restaurant.

Detail of 36-38 Whitworth Street, Manchester
In one bay of this otherwise fairly plain Victorian warehouse is a flurry of decorative detail - anthemion and palmette frieze and semi-fluted square pillars with faces in the capitals. Conventional Classical motifs but in their execution not adhering to Classical rules. Full view here: Image

Lock 86, Rochdale Canal (Manchester City Centre)
Despite objections from boaters and conservationists, a glass fence was installed over the wall (like the lock, a listed building) following an accidental drowning. The glass fence can be seen in more recent photographs. But the stone block on the right of the lock landing was the only stepped access for boaters to reach the lock from Canal Street (the towpath), and British Waterways had to install pontoons to allow boaters to work the lock.

Still true!
This has been stencilled into a doorway on Chorlton Street for many years and is as true today as when it first appeared.
