Buses on Chorlton Street, Manchester
Chorlton Street is the terminus for buses to and from Burnley and Blackburn. The route to Burnley and Nelson, on which the bus in the foreground is operating, is branded "The Witch Way" in recognition of the witches of Pendle. The multi storey car park on the extreme left conceals the coach station.

Arthur House, Chorlton Street, Manchester
A white concrete building in Manchester? It has to be the work of Cruickshank & Seward. This was built in 1962. Miraculously, the concrete has not been painted over or clad in primary-coloured panels. There are textured effects on the near sections created by thin vertical indentations, apparently randomly spaced. Note the playful bit of modern art on the left - two metal stick-men climbing the building under the watchful gaze of a third resting his laurels at the top. I say men, but neuter would be more accurate. As ever, office space to let at the time of the photo.
