Hathersage Road and the Victoria Baths
When built, this was considered a rather superior area in which to live. The Victoria Baths on the right added a touch of splendour. After many years of steady decline, the area is being rejuvenated and the Baths are the subject of a multi-million pound renovation.

Commemorative Plaque, Manchester Victoria Baths
Plaque commemorating the opening of the Victoria Baths on September 7th 1906 by the Lord Mayor. As was the practice at the time, the plaque lists not only the Mayor , who opened the baths, but also the other members of the "Baths & Wash Houses Committee" (who presumably came to witness the proceedings). The plaque is just inside the doorway to the Males 1st Class entrance.

The Angel of Purity Window
The iconic 'Angel of Purity' window in the Turkish Baths Rest Room is the most famous of all the stained glass at Victoria Baths. The name "Angel of Purity" appears to have been first used during a BBC broadcast in the 1950s and has stuck ever since although she is really a water nymph with her butterfly wings.
