London Road signalbox, Manchester
The signalbox as not seen by passengers using Manchester Piccadilly station. Grafted onto the existing viaduct in 1958/59, the signalbox was then state of the art in outward design and electrical technology. The 'bay window' section is cantilevered out, following the lines of a short turntable originally provided for steam trains using the Altrincham route.
