Rochdale Canal, Dale Street Lock (#84)
Dale Street Lock (#84), at the southern end of the Piccadilly Basin, the first of the "Rochdale Nine". When the rest of the Rochdale Canal was closed to navigation in 1952, these nine locks which link the Ashton and Bridgewater Canals, through the centre of Manchester, were the only part of the canal to remain open, forming part of the "Cheshire Ring". http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/rochdale/rc9.htm A Virtual Journey along the Rochdale Canal (Pennine Waterways)

I had 20 minutes at lunchtime for a quick explore of the Rochdale Canal. I must say this taster would make me really keen to do some Manchester canal walking.
