50 Newton Street, Manchester
A former warehouse executed with considerable panache and full of attractive details. A giant arcade reaching through three floors with terracotta trim, ornate windows, and an extravagant segmental pediment at the top. Built 1907 by C. Clegg & Son. Grade II listed. The listing records that it was built for a hat manufacturer, something which is no doubt remembered in the name of the hostel currently occupying the building, Hatters.

Blue Tit Mural
The mural on the side of the Hatter's Hostel was commissioned by Converse as part of their Wall to Wall project and was created by artist Faunagraphic in 2011 Image It is now looking a little sorry for itself. The bottom half of the mural in particular has lost most of its colouring and appears to have been over-tagged.
