29-31 Dale Street, Manchester
Large red warehouse by W. & G. Higginbottom, 1909. White stone bands were used to liven things up a little; it's quite lively above the cornice too. Grade II listed. The listing records, rather surreally, that it "was occupied in 1905 by umbrella manufacturers and the Belgian and Congo Free States Consulate". I think it's now come down in the world and serves as offices for trendy "Northern Quarter"-style enterprises.

Mid/late-C19th warehouse. Fairly utilitarian aside from the vertical grouping of the first- and second-floor windows, between which are moulded panels. Grade II listed.

Allotment, Dale Street
The new bar on Dale Street simply called Allotment http://allotmentbar.co.uk/ opened in 2014. Image Originally it had been the Haunch of Venison http://pubs-of-manchester.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/nicklebys.html but later became known as Nickleby's. It was recognised as one of the only gay-friendly pubs in the area. It closed in the late 1990s and was subsequently renovated and used as offices for Knights Fashion Agencies, a clothes importer.

21 Newton Street, Manchester
With obvious similarities to its neighbour (Image]), notably the rounded corners and chimneys. Built as a warehouse by eminent local firm, Clegg & Knowles, c1880. Grade II listed. Now known as Cheetwood House, shops at ground floor, offices above (empty at time of photo).

Bradley House, Dale Street, Manchester
A stately former warehouse which for its date, c1850, is remarkably restrained. There is scarcely a decorative flourish in sight, just a rusticated stone ground floor, cornice and tripartite window. It is definitely infused with the spirit of the Georgians rather than the Victorians. Grade II listed. It has been converted into offices, being marketed, when I visited, as "The Flatiron".
