Liv' Well
The shop on the corner of Stevenson Square and Spear Street used to be H Blyth & Sons specialist art shop. Now "life is all about coffee 'n' crystals" according to the window of the health studio that has opened up in its place.

With all the salubrity one comes to expect from city centre night clubs, this door, with the illuminated sign above it, was firmly shut

I Support Clean Air - Everywhere
An artist's impression of how a permanently pedestrianised Stevenson Square might look; propped up against the Friends of the Earth "I support clean air" motif at their stand at "The People's Pop-up Park" (Image]).

Stevenson Square, Temporary Pedestrianisation July 2020
In the 1960s and 1970s, Stevenson Square was a bustling bus terminus. Now, it all looks sadly run down and rather dilapidated even though attempts have been made to brighten it up with street art and rejuvenate it as part of Manchester’s “Northern Quarter”. Manchester council has recently implemented temporary traffic-free zones in the Northern Quarter on Thomas Street (Image]), and also in Deansgate (Image]); Stevenson Square and part of Ducie Street became a pedestrian and cycle-only zone From July 3, 2020, until further notice. It is hoped the move will allow pedestrians to socially distance instead of gathering in groups at traffic lights, while also preventing queuing vehicles from blocking trams and buses. Buses that usually pass through Stevenson Square will be diverted along Lever Street to Great Ancoats Street and into Oldham Street.
