Five Knolls
Three Barrows at the northernmost end of Dunstable Downs seen from atop the fourth - the fifth is behind me. The barrow on the left dates to around 2200BC and contained a crouching inhumation with a long flint blade. A cremation urn had been added around 1500BC. The other Barrows date to between 2000 and 1800BC. Local people have used the barrows for a cycle track causing a worn grove in the top of each of those in a line. Only the oldest has been spared the indignity.
