The Station (pub), Ilkley
The pub is well named as it is across the road from the station. It was a welcome refuge on a cold evening when I had just missed one train and the next one was cancelled (the railway station itself only has very basic shelters now, and no station bar or cafe). Note the pair of semaphore signals taking the place of the traditional inn sign.

Ilkley station
The desolate appearance of Ilkley station in the mid-1980s. The far side of the station, which had accommodated the through tracks to Skipton, was disused. Only Platform 1 was used, with at that time quite a sparse service to Leeds and one or two trains to Bradford. Electrification had not then taken place.

Ilkley station
Ilkley still has regular trains to Bradford and Leeds, although services to Skipton, Otley and Harrogate fell victims to the Beeching axe. Here a Class 144 'Pacer' unit waits departure time, in the days before electric wires came here.
