Barrier on footpath from Mill Lane to Spring View, Gildersome
The path is closed to cyclists anyway Image so the purpose of this barrier, which is designed to allow cycles through, is not clear. In any case, cyclists could get round the side if they wished.

Squirrel carving, Gildersome
The tree trunk has been carved with various scenes and symbols of the village's history, including a colliery winding wheel. On top is the figure of a squirrel. It was surrounded at this time in early spring by purple crocuses.
