Peter Cassidy, Holbeck Lane
Peter Cassidy originated in Hull in 1921; their Leeds business opened in 1961. They make and test lifting equipment. Of perhaps greater interest is the street to the left, Low Hall Place; a Leeds City Council document on the Holbeck Conservation Area says that this setted street that now leads into a private yard is the remains of a pre-1600 route and therefore one of the oldest roads in the city. The Hol Beck flows in a culvert under the gates of Cassidy's yard and the street in front.

This former flax mill, dating from 1827, is now used by a scaffolding company. It is not listed but is in the Holbeck conservation area and there is concern about its deteriorating state. The Hol Beck itself flows in a culvert to the right of the building.

Low Hall Mills, Holbeck Lane (Detail)
This former flax mill dates from 1827 according to one website, although the date on the entrance arch is 1874. It is not listed but is in the Holbeck conservation area and there is concern about its deteriorating state. The Hol Beck itself flows in a culvert in front of the building, roughly below the photographer's position. SPM on the gates is a later addition, standing for Selby Plumbers Merchants Ltd, who used the premises at one time. For context, see Image
