Houses in the grounds of Burton House
These two rows of four houses or maybe flats were built (in the late 1980s according to the South Leeds Life blog, though the style looks more 1950s to me) in the grounds of a former 18th century mansion Image They are named Cockburn Close, after the former Cockburn High School nearby.

Election poster, Dobson Avenue, Hunslet
Whatever your own politics, Mr Carlisle the Green candidate in a local election seemed to have his name everywhere. Dobson Avenue is one of several streets of terraced housing off Burton Avenue, presumably named after Richard Dobson whose maltings was the main industrial site in the locality.

Burton House Burton Avenue, Hunslet Moor
One of the few listed buildings in this part of Leeds (grade 2, list entry 1255805), it dates from 1791 and was originally called Burton Lodge. It was attached to the Brewery and Maltings behind (no longer extant though referenced in the name of Maltings Road). It was originally accessed from Brewery Moor Side (now Burton Row) to the north, and the name presumably references the famous brewing town on the Trent. Leeds Council bought it in 1919 as an annex to Hunslet Moor Primary School along the road - see Image - and later for the 6th form of Cockburn High School (a local grammar school). In 1986 it was converted into flats.

Burton House, Beeston
See my earlier photo of this Grade II listed property on Burton Avenue Image for a bit more history. The nameplate to the left of the door has either been removed or got overgrown with ivy since then.

Gone for a Burton
The title was irresistible. This is the former Park Lane College building on Burton Avenue, Hunslet. The institution became part of the larger Leeds City College in 2009, which now has two newer campuses in the area - Hunslet Road Printworks, and Joseph Priestley Centre further along Burton Road Image So this building is now disused.

Dewsbury Road post office and Premier stores
Apart from the signage above the shop and the name of the hair salon next door, not much has changed since my 2016 view Image But pavement parking as seen here has become a much more common practice in recent years; it is legal in most of England but that is currently under review.
