Watson's Infant School
Watson's Free School was founded in 1784 by Richard Watson for the instruction of poor children. The school was enlarged and repaired in 1835 and by 1881 had become an Infants' School. It continued in use until 1918. The building was then used as a private school until about 1960. In 1963 the building was bought by the Horncastle & District Photographic Society and is still in use today.

The Crown Inn, West Street, Horncastle
The Crown Inn.
The three-story detached house next door is the former asylum of Edward Harrison MD (1759-1838) who expanded his interests by caring for the insane. Harrison became the highly regarded physician to the father and uncle of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, at nearby Somersby.

Early 19th century Grade II Listed house. Edward Harrison (1759-1838) used the house as a private asylum. The plaque installed in 2008 reads 'The home and private practice of EDWARD HARRISON MD, the founder of the HORNCASTLE DISPENSARY in 1789. Medical reformer and pioneer in curing spinal disorders'. Documents from 1973 refer to the house being used as 'the business of the Design and Manufacture of Light Shades and Fittings'
