St Michael's Church, Thorpe-on-the-Hill
In Pevsner's 'Buildings of England: Lincolnshire' he says that the tower of St Michael's is a puzzle as although it was apparently built in 1722 it has a blocked Norman window in its west face and a blocked Early English doorway in the north face. He concludes these were probably re-set. The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1912.

The west tower of St Michael's Church, Thorpe-on-the-Hill
In Pevsner's 'Buildings of England: Lincolnshire' he says that the tower of St Michael's is a puzzle as although it was apparently built in 1722 it has a blocked Norman window in its west face and a blocked Early English doorway in the north face. He concludes these were probably re-set. He also concludes that the semi-circular moulding above the west doorway could be from 1722, as is the blocked round window above. The rest of the church was rebuilt in 1912.
