A diagonal ("X") pedestrian crossing, Boultham, Lincoln
I had never encountered anything like this before, where pedestrians can cross to the opposite corner of the crossroads, as well as across each individual road. Not knowing how this system worked at the time, and dissuaded by the busyness of the junction and lack of tactile paving, I proceeded the 'normal' way. I know now, of course, that this is an actual thing which exists.

Boultham Crossing
A Lincoln City Transport bus on the way to Birchwood catch the last rays of the sun on a cold afternoon in February 1987. At this time most of the City's bus services were still operated by the council owned company, which has since been swallowed up by the Stagecoach group.
