Simon's Monument
Monument in Simons Green, formerly a vista monument in Boultham Hall parkland, reputedly originally sited in what became the garden of a house in St.Peter's Avenue and later moved here. Popular tradition asserts that Simon was Colonel Ellison's charger whose loyal service in The Crimea was rewarded with a return passage to England and burial beneath the monument on his death.
