Peacock Willson's bank
Many of the shops on Lincoln High Street have impressive facades above modern shop fronts, River Island is one of the finest examples. Built c1895 as Peacock Willson's bank premises by architect William Watkins, the splendid terra-cotta work was executed by Doulton's of Lambeth.

If Ludwig Mies van der Rohe had designed a building in Lincoln, this would probably be the least unlikely candidate. It was in fact designed by Clarke Hall, Scorer & Bright and built in 1968-70. Home to Barclays Bank.
