Quite accomplished neo-Georgian with sections of plain parapet interspersed with balustraded sections. Probably inter-war. Shops were Mind (charity), Stringers (hairdresser), and Morning Sun supermarket.

NEW Poundland - former Lion Hotel
Poundland at 170 High Street, formerly The White Lion Hotel in 1826, The Lion Hotel by 1836, The Lion Hotel and Railway Tavern in 1850 and The Lion Hotel and Omnibus Station in the early 20th century. The bus station was in in the adjacent Royal Oak Yard, the Royal Oak pub was destroyed by fire on 9th July 1961.
