Overwhelmed New Cut
The New Cut isn't doing its job of draining the surrounding land. Further downstream near Billinghay Image it is flowing well but here there is little movement. Somewhere between the two points there must be a blockage.

New Cut, near Walcott
The name 'New Cut' usually implies a relatively early drainage scheme. The fact that this watercourse follows the contour of the ridge rather than cutting straight across the fen tends to confirm this.
