Airborne topsoil in front of Green Man Wood on a stormy April afternoon
From the road in front of Metheringham Lodge.
A cold front is passing, the wind is gale force, and the sandy topsoil is rising in an orange cloud above the fields. Coincidentally the high pressure has been causing high levels of pollution, and Saharan sand is coating everything. But the sand in these parts comes from closer to home!
Competitors en route to a horse competition at Norton Disney have been delayed in their high-sided horse boxes on the motorways by the wind. After a sunny afternoon with stormy cumulus clouds the sky has clouded over. Half an hour later a premature darkness had fallen and the rain was lashing down.
