No longer frying tonight
Long-time chip shop on Queen Street, now closed and for sale In the 1960s they had coal-fired friers and cooked in dripping. Fish & chips was 2/6- and if you took in a large bundle of newspapers, you got a bag of chips with scraps for free.

Kate's Cottage
In the 1940s this was home to a lady called Kate who was housekeeper / maid for the Brackenbury family, Mr Brackenbury was a pharmacist and owned the village Chemist shop next door on Silver Street
