Base of Roman Gate Tower - Newport Arch - Lincoln
Just west of the north Roman gate of 'Newport Arch' the photo shows the modern street level compared with the Roman street level at the base of this semi-circular Roman gate tower which protruded from the Roman wall. The 'Newport Arch' inner Roman gate arch being a very short distance beyond the railings in this photo.
