Cut Mark: Woodhall Spa, 617 Bar
Cut bench mark on 617 Bar, formerly the Game Cock. The new name is a connection with the Dambusters Squadron, for which a memorial stands nearby. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5732753 for a wider view and http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm94664 for details.

The Woodhall Spa Hotel
This is the oldest surviving hotel in the village. Built in the early 1870's as a private residence called Eagle House. In 1882 it was converted to a hotel called The Eagle Lodge Hotel and now is called The Woodhall Spa Hotel. In May 2011 it became part of Legacy Hotels group.
Great place to stay.

Woodhall Spa: Victoria Lodge, The Broadway
At the time of this photo in 2004, the house was undergoing (in the words of the large white sign out front) "refurbishment and conversion to a private dental practice with three surgeries and specialist dental facilities". Seven years later, Google Streetview shows it as up for sale. It appears to have been converted to create several flats; which is how I knew it, as my first home, in Flat 2 (ground floor right), where I lived between 1956 and 1959.

The world's smallest shoe shop (perhaps!)
This interesting building stands at one end of the old shopping parade on the Broadway in the former spa town of Woodhall Spa.
When Woodhall Spa had its own railway station, the shop was a booking office and was the last building on the platform before the railway line diagonally bisected the Broadway. This explains its unusual shape which is only 3 feet deep at one end and led to the property being known as the 'Woodhall Wedge'. During its life, the shop has seen service as a bicycle shop, an electrical retailers, a jewellers, and even a Bank.
Now allegedly the world's smallest shoe shop, customers have to view the displays in 'single file' at this end of the shop! Much of the stock is necessarily kept in an adjoining building.
