The old Shire Hall and War Memorial in Glanhwfa Road
The old Shire Hall was built in 1899, and still contains a number of departments such as the County Archives and that of the Registrar of Birth, Deaths and Marriages, as well as the offices of the Town Council. The expansion in the role of local government, however, has led to the building of a new complex of offices and public buildings on the other side of the river. The War Memorial was erected in the early 1920s.
