Street Scene, Cemaes
Cemaes was originally a fishing village - herring being a particular important local catch. Later, during the 18th and 19th centuries, Cemaes developed into a thriving port. Locally-quarried limestone and marble, bricks, corn and ochre were shipped from here. Imports included coal and flour. Ships were also built in the shelter of the harbour.
