Valley railway station - platform 1
Opened May 1849, closed to passengers 14 February 1966 but reopened as a request stop 15 March 1982 after public pressure. In 1962 transfer sidings were put in place near the station and used for the dispatch by rail of spent fuel from the Wylfa nuclear power station. In 1989 sidings for turning steam locomotives were also put in place, North Wales being a popular destination for 'steam specials'.
