The Marquis of Anglesey's Tower rising above the trees. The tower was completed in 1817 to commemorate Henry William Paget of Plas Newydd who led the cavalry during the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. On November 24 1860 a bronze statue of the First Marquis of Anglesey was placed at the top of the tower.

Marquess of Anglesey's Column
The tower was finished in 1817, two years after the Battle of Waterloo. In 1860, the bronze statue of the 1st Marquess of Anglesey, William Henry Paget, was placed on the top of the tower. He was Wellington's second in command, and lost a leg at Waterloo.

1GL benchmark & bolt on The Marquess of Anglesey's Column, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll
This benchmark & bolt is located at the base of the Marquess of Anglesey's Column in Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and was used during the Ordnance Survey's First Primary Levelling on a branch line between Bangor and Holyhead on the main line between Warrington and Pembroke Docks, between September 1851 and July 1852. This benchmark was 238.657ft. above the Liverpool datum.
