Empty department store in the High Street
This large store is on sale, with Debenhams having moved into new premises at the Menai Centre (formerly the Wellfield Shopping Centre) by the bus station. Before it was bought by Denbenhams, this was the high fashion store of Wartski's of Bangor. This store is just one - albeit the largest - of a growing number of empty properties on the High Street.

Eglwys Gadeiriol Deiniol Sant - St. Deiniol's Cathedral
There has been a church on this site since the sixth century when Deiniol was granted land here by King Maelgwn Gwynedd. On a number of occasions - 634, 1074, 1211, 1282 and 1402 A.D. - marauding armies have put the cathedral to the torch. King John and Owain Glyndwr were the two most famous arsonists. The present structure was built just before the Reformation and has since undergone modifications, the most drastic in the mid-Victorian period.
