The Chamois Mountaineering Centre, Ceunant
This mountaineering club centre occupies former residences of key Marconi Radio Station personnel. The transatlantic radio station operated from before World War I until the late 1930s.

Roadside signage at Ceunant
These signs at the junction between the main road and a dirt track leading up to the Cefn Du moor lists the small holdings along the track. 'Awel-y-Mynydd' means mountain breeze, 'Ty Uchaf' = upper house, and 'Ty Isaf'= lower house.

The Beacon Climbing Centre, Ceunant
A popular sporting venue on the edge of the moor, famous for its devilish training walls. Occupies the buildings of the former Marconi Radio Station. Closed on the eve of World War II, the station was a major landmark in the area with huge 400 foot tall aerials erected across the Cefn Du moors. Local radio amateurs keep up the tradition with an annual world wide link-up from the centre.

The Old Marconi Radio Station, Ceunant
Opened in 1914, the station achieved a first when it transmitted in Morse code to Australia in September 1918. For many years it was the most important long wave radio station in Britain. After its closure in 1939, the building had many and varied uses. For a brief time, in the 1970s, it was a notorious strip-club. Today, it houses the Beacon Indoor Climbing Centre.

The Beacon Climbing Centre, Ceunant
Located on the edge of the Cefn Du moorlands, the centre occupies the buildings of the former Marconi Radio Station. The site overlooks the Arfon coastal plain, with the town of Caernarfon, and, beyond the Menai Straits, Ynys Mon - the Isle of Anglesey.
