Houses at the Blue Peris area viewed from Dinorwig Quarry
The buildings here were built by the quarry to house management and security workers and their families. The pavilion-like building on the right housed the Quarry Hospital before it was replaced by a new hospital overlooking Llyn Padarn. Image]

Vivian Quarry near Llanberis
The top of the disused quarry dominates this view from Padarn Country Park. The bottom of the quarry is flooded to a depth of 18 metres. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4039857 The main building in view is part of Gilfach Ddu station http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4039689 on the Llanberis Lake Railway.

The way home - steps at the top of Vivian Quarry
This flight of steps at the top of Vivian Quarry leading up to the track for Dinorwig village must have been a welcome sight at the end of the working day for generations of quarrymen. It is now a part of the network of paths within the Padarn Country Park.

Dinorwig Quarry Slate Tips
A view of the vast Dinorwig Quarry Slate Tips, the angular bits at the top of the tips are the ends of the Tramways, used to transport and tip the waste. The area in the foreground has been reclaimed.

Standing his ground
Goats in the woods are occasionally killed by walkers' dogs and generally the goats are timid and shy animals. Nevertheless, some are getting bolder and are less likely to disappear into the woods when they hear a human or a dog approaching. Image
