Palm trees a thousand feet up a Welsh mountain
Despite the harshness of the climate, these members of the palm family, more associated with the sunnier climes of seaside resorts in Devon and Cornwall, seem to thrive here at the Bro Elidir Estate, Dinorwig. The photo was taken on a very cold and blustery afternoon.

Ffynnon Wen - a converted chapel of ease
This building was the former Eglwys y Santes Fair (St Mary's Church) a chapel of ease within the parish of Llandinorwig. It has been converted into a house called Ffynnon Wen (white/pure well).

Y Ganolfan - the community centre at Dinorwig
Y Ganolfan ('the centre') occupies the former village school buildings. Children of primary age are now taught at Ysgol Gwaun Gyfni, Deiniolen, a mile and a half down hill.
