Parc Glynllifon - Cornish boiler
This is in the estate workshops and provided steam to a horizontal single cylinder engine. The boiler was built by Thomas and De Winton of Carnarvon [sic] in 1854. It has a tall dome with the safety valve on top. The water level was checked by a gauge glass on the right (missing the glass) and try cocks on the left. The pipe and valve on the right are for boiler feed. The engine is now supplied by a modern boiler for demonstration purposes.

Steam engine - Parc Glynllifon estate workshops
This horizontal single cylinder engine was probably built by De Winton of Carnarvon in 1854 and stopped work about 1931/32. It had recently been restored by Fred Dibnah but it appears that the steam supply had not yet been connected. The slide valve cylinder is 13"x 27" and the flywheel is 10' diameter.

It had recently been restored by Fred Dibnah but it appears that the steam supply had not yet been connected. The slide valve cylinder is 13"x 27" and the flywheel is 10' diameter. This view shows the cylinder with the slide valve mounted on top and the ungabbing mechanism for operating the valve by hand while starting. Part of the four bar crosshead guides are seen to the right.
