One half expects to see the farmer going past on a camel. It shows how mild the climate is in this part of Llyn, Faerdre means "land adjacent to the court of a commote". In early medieval times the land was worked by bondsmen under the supervision of a "maer biswail" or steward to provide food for the lord of the manor and his court.

Private lane to Plas Gelliwig
The old mansion at Plas Gelliwig passed from the Jones family to the Edwards' of Nanhoron Image (who also inherited Bodwrda Image) but was later allowed to become dilapidated. At one time Gelliwig was reputedly one of the most haunted houses in Llyn, a land well known for its ghosts. The Rector of Llanengan Image was asked to conduct a service of exorcism in one of the bedrooms where a particularly evil spirit was making a thorough nuisance of itself. Moments after entering the room, the vicar emerged with his clothing torn to shreds and covered from head to toe in filth and maggots (and all without the obligatory appearance of Ant and Dec).
