This cottage beneath the woods of Plas yn Rhiw was home to the poet R S Thomas and his wife Mildred Elsie Eldridge from 1978 when he retired from the parish of Aberdaron.

The New Road below Plas Yn Rhiw
A view of the newly opened road below Plas Yn Rhiw (the grass has not had time to grow yet). The old road (visible on the right handside of the picture), became the victim of a landslip just beyond the wooden gate.

Sarn-y-plas
The home of the late vicar and poet, R.S.Thomas. Until recent times the Rhiw-Seithbont road ran below the cottage. Following a major landslide, a new road was constructed further up the slope. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._S._Thomas
