Smoke pattern indicative of a near surface temperature inversion
Smoke rising from the chimney of this cottage at Mynytho at nightfall on a calm frosty December evening flattens out within inches of leaving the chimney, a clear indication of a near surface inversion of temperature.

Old cottage in Mynytho, Lleyn
A rare survivor, a gem from a forgotten age. More beautiful than any modern house. A lot harder to live in I expect though. Or is it? Simple coal fire... can't break down can it.

Old cottage beside the road in Mynytho, Lleyn
Apart from some exterior lights I can't see any improvements to this old gem. Its decor seems to pre-date the War. Wow. Nice to see an unimproved cottage in this day and age. We too easily forget what life was truly like in the fairly recent past - very little in the way of 'home improvements' or 'mod cons' and the like. Lots of us can recall outside loo's, no hot water, no phone and coal fires. The veneer of progress and civilisation is thin indeed.
