Yr hen olchdy - The old laundry Afonwen
The old Afonwen laundry building at Ffridd-lwyd (Ffriwlwyd) on the banks of the Afon Wen. Now relocated to a new building on road from Afonwen to Chwilog.

The new Pont Ffridd-lwyd bridge
Pont Ffridd-lwyd carries the A497 over Afon Wen. Comparison with Google's Earth shows that a number of buildings on the eastern bank of the river have been demolished. This, as Alan Fryer's photograph shows, was the former site of Golchdy Afonwen Laundry. In addition the field in the foreground was at that time being used as a depot during the construction of the new sections of the A497.

A new bridge over the Afon Wen at Ffrydd-lwyd (Ffriwlwyd) on the improved A497 between Llanystumdwy and Abererch, constructed between 2004 and 2006.

On the Wales Coast Path
Unfortunately the Wales Coast Path runs alongside the A497 road for a couple of miles or so between Afon Wen and Llanystumdwy. Not the most pleasant walking.
